IMMIGRATION.

GOVERNMENT ASSISTANCE WITH-

DRAWN.

[press association.]

WELLINGTON, July 22. The Government has decided to stop all assisted immigration for the present. "Those whom wo have contracted to bring out will be assisted in accordance with the Government's undertaking," said the Acting-Premier to-day, "and persons nominated before the decision was made will not be interfered with, but during the winter mouths wo will not assist any more immigrants, for that is a bad time to arrive, not only because of the climatic conditions, but also because of the lack of employment."
