.STATEMENT BY ACTING-PEEMIER.

WELLINGTON, July 20

The Acting-Premier stated to-day that since 1906 an aggregate of 1,530,129 acre-> of Crown lands had been leased or sold in the various provincial districts. The Crown Lands' Guide now contained 1,144,443 acres. Areas now advertised on posters totalled 108,233 acres. The area in the hands of the Land and Survey Office, to be ready for •pening and settlement before the end of August, is 110,094 acres. "It is understood," reports the Evening Post, "that some 30,000 acres, reclaimed from Piako Swamp, will be available for sottlement in the early autumn.
