CRICKET TOKO v. HAWERA.

This match for the championship was played at Bayly Park on Wednesday afternoon, in fin© but dull and cloudy weather. The visitors only played ten men, but proved too good for the home team, winning by 15 runs. Toko batted first; with the exception of Cole and Smith the batting was poor. E. Cole as usual played a vigorous game. Smith played sterling cricket, and was often cheered by the few onlookers present. Pratt, Treweek a^id McCarthy took bowling honors in this innings. For Hawera McCarthy and Treweek played well for their respective scores; the rest of the side wore all "tail." E. Cole was the "demon" with the leather and his 7 for 32 was really 'a very creditable performance. The ( rain threatened the whole of the game, but kept off till the finish, before 5 o'clock, giving the visitors ample time to catch the "mail," by which they were to return to their homes — and very proud of their somewhat unexpected victory.
