A STRANGE DEATH
THAMES, April 15. William Reid, aged eighteen, met with his death in a strange manner last night. He went with some friends out on Hauraki Gulf on a fishing excursion. On the return voyage he went to bed
in the cabin, and then appeared in the best of health. When the launch ar- ' rived at Thames, Reid was found dead. Medical assistance was summoned, but life* was extinct. The doctor expressed the opinion that death was caused by the inhalation of benzine fumes. Another passenger said he felt ill, and it is believed to be due to the same cause.
