At the Labor party's conference at Portsmouth, Mr 'Keir Hardie, M.P., presiding, Mr Philip Snowden, M.P., demanded that the cost of dealing with poverty should rest on unearned incomes.
A resolution moved by Mr Ramsay Mac Donald, M.P., was carried, opposing increased taxation of the masses and urging a super-tax on large incomes, special taxes an State-conferred monopolies, and increased estate legacy duties, as a substantial beginning of taxation of land values.
