The other , starter, Snow Star, fell and sustained injuries from which he died. Stewards' Handicap — Lady Menschikoff 1, Toa Tuhi 2, Aboriginal 3. Also started: Mussell, Lochiela, Thera. Won by a neck. Newmarket Hack-—Lucretius 1, Miss Vera 2, Swallow 3. Also started: Cute, Notorious, Aroha, Purakau, Oblivion, Tairmi, Sweet Shot. Oute fell at the entrance to the straight and brought down Aroha, Oblivion, Tainui and Sweet Shot. None of the riders were hurt. Won by a head.
