MEAT EXPORTERS
GRIEVANCE AGAINST HOME GOVERNMENT. m ' n i[PEK PRESS ASSOCIATION.]
NAPIER, January 28
There being dissatisfaction among meat exporters in Hawke's Bay regarding the British Government's prohibition of entry into Britain of frozen kidneys and other offal, the Premier, interviewed, states he xvas aware of the difficulty and had already taken steps in regard to it. He cabled the High Commissioner asking him to see the Home Government and point out tliat it was a serious matter and a severe handicap to the New Zealand trade. As the whole business here was under inspection there would be no justification should be furnished to the Gowas generally regarded as most unfriendly to the Dominion. Before any ■action was taken he would think, as a matter of fairness, that full informationtion should be furnished to the Government of cases where there were current contracts on, and shipments concerned should be exempted until a settlement of the matter is arrived at.
