NEW YORK, January 19.

President Roosevelt, in a speech at the diamond jubilee of the African, Methodist Episcopal Church, eulogised th(- work of Europeans and Americans in Australasia, Africa, Egypt, Java, and the Phillipines, which conferred lasting benents on the native races. He concluded by paying a remarkable tribute to Britain's beneficent rule in liidia.

NEW YORK, January 19.

There is much comment in America over President Roosevelt's .appreciation of Britain's rule in India. There is a. reniai'kable contrast between the views of President Roosevelt and Mr Biyan (after visiting India) and those expressed by Mr Keir-Hardie during his crusade in America against his country.
