On Wednesday next, weather permitting, the cricket season will be formally opened. Although conditions did not allow of the opening last week, a good deal of practice and ground work was put in by members. Given fine weather an interesting afternoon will be spent on Wednesday. Anyone interested is cordially welcomed at the opening. At the annual meeting of the Taranaki Athletic Association the 1 election of officers resulted ' as I follows: — Patron, Mr W. T. Clarke, was elected to represent the centre at /the annual meeting of the union to be held at Dunedin in January, 1909. It was decided to forward the following remits to the N.Z.A.U.'s annual meeting: — That the whole of the 2s 6d registration fee be retained by the centre; .that nomination and acceptance fees be fixed at a maximum of 5 per- cent. -of the prize money; that officials of unregistered clubs be debarred from taking any part whatever in registered meetings, and that officials of registered clubs be debarred j from taking any part whatever in unregistered meetings, Tenders are invited for grazing by James and Gillman: At the novelty house you will find the very latest in gold and colored tassels for dress trimming, the newest in gold ties.
