MR NEWTON KING'S REPORT. Newton King reports : At Urenui, -on Monday, 19th inst., I held a very v successful sale on account of Mr H. T. Joll. There was ■» large attendance, and the cows, which included several grade Jerseys, being a really first-class lot, met with keen competition and sold at excellent prices. Cows at full profit made £7 to £10 16s, springers £5 5s to £11, calves on the bucket 2s 6d, Jersey do. 17s to 245, empty heifers £2 6s to £2 17s 6d, yearling steers £2 to £2 6s 6d, pedigree bull £14, store pigs 21s to 325, sow £2 7s 6d. Furniture and sundries sold at satisfactory prices. At Stratford, on Tuesday, I held a special sale of pedigree Jerseys in my horse bazaar yards, when about 30 head from the following brepders were submitted to the hammer :— Thos. Linn (Manpatoki), A. H. Halcombe (Uiwwi), Paul Hunter (Hawke's Bay), W. Booth (Carterton), E. Eagle, iunr. (Carterton) and A. Buchanan (Talmerston North). There was a good attendance, and nearIv every line was sold without reserve. Yearling bulls made 8* to I'sns, 2 to 3-ypar bulls 14 to 40pm*. 2 to 3-year heifers in calf 12| to 16igns, cows in -tei'lk 15$ to 21$jms. My usual cattle sale, held <^n the same day, was well attendpd. All store cattle were in good demand, and sold at late values. Yearling steers made 34s 6d to 46s 6d, calves £1 5s to £1 7s 6d, yearling heifers 27s 6<3 to 335, empty heifers £2 Os 6d to £2 14s 6d, 18-month to 2-year steers £2 16s to £3 9s, 3-year do £4 17s, store rows £2 to £3 0s 6d, forward and fat do. £3 lls to £4 19s. In the dairy pens there was a large entry, and all heifers of good quality met with keen competition and made . excellent prices. Small and medium quality were hard to quit at considerably less values. Good forward heifers made 1 £5 to £7 ss, others £3 5s to £4 17s 6d, Jersey do. £10. A pood line of dairy cows (guaranteed) made £5 5s to £9.' '
