THE AMERICAN FLEEFS VISIT.

SYDNEY, May 22. Probably the oflicial landing of the Americans will be at the spot in Farm Cove where the first Governor-General landed. One of the features of the reception will be magnificent illuminations on all headlands within Sydney harbor.
News from the East states that natives ambushed a Dutch patrol at Klungkung, in the island of Bali (one of the Sundas). They killed one officer and four men and wounded 12. A Dutch 1 warship subsequently bombarded Klungkung. The attack is attributed to the repression of the opium traffic.
PEARLING INDUSTRY.
(Received May 22, 10.20 a.m.) ._ BRISBANE, May 22. A commission of enquiry, into the pearling industry has commenced. Witnesses contend. that the work could not be carried on profitably by white labor unless subsidised. 'j '
