Lpbbss association.] WELLINGTON, May 22. At the Supreme Court to-day Wal-^ lace Herbert Stewart, was brought up charged with forgery. The jury returned a verdict that accused was found guilty of uttering a receipt, but did not consider, it was don© with criminal.intent. ' ; The' Judge said there' was sufficient doubt about the verdict to make it desirable' to obtain the decision of the Appeal Court as to the effect of the finding! Accused in the meantime , is admitted to bail. Frederick Percy Richer, aged nineteen years, who pleaded guilty in the MthanT Magistrate's Court to forgery and' larceny, was sentenced to three months' without, hard la*bor. Roderick McKenzie, an -elderly man, was sentenced at the Supreme Court to-day to seven years'' imprisonment for committing a serious offence on two young girls.
