WANGANUI EDUCATION BOARD.

The ordinary meeting of the Education Board was held last evening* present — Messrs F. Pirani, (Chairman), F. M. Spurdle, G. H. Bennett, J. P. Aldridge, E. Purnell, E. . Dixon, •A. Fraser, D. H. Guthfie, and W. C. Cargai. Hawera.— The committee wrote asking that an assistant teacher be appointed instead of two pupil teachers .' — Resolved, That the matter be left . over till the end of the quarter. Reported that the Education Department has granted £1,200 towards the Technical School at Hawera. Resignations.— The following resignations' were accepted: — A. A. Hintz (Hawera), Li Clmton\(Warrengate), M. Gudgeon (Oroua fridge), R. J. Williamson (relieving, teaoher), L. A. Smith" (Whakamara), R. P. Clarkson (Normanby), E. Herliky (Eaukatea). Absence. — Leave of absence was granted to L. F. Tegner (Waiouru), L,, J. McDonnell (South Makirikiri), J. M. Thurston (Hiwinui), P. ODea (Patea D.H.S.), C. M. Stace (Feilding). Ten Commandments.— From Mr S. Pearson, Wellington, forwarding to the Board a copy of the Ten 1 Commandments, to be hung in the schools of the Board.-7-Received. . > ■„ • Manga where— A letter was received from the school 'committee asking permission for the settlers to. erect a hall on the school grounds.— Resolved that permission be granted. '•--.- Painting.— lt was resolved that the architect be instructed to call for tenders for the painting of all the school roofs near the coast. Kapuni.— The committee wrote re grant on account of work done by the children. — Resolved, That ■ the ' commit-, tee be informed that the Board thanks them for the work done, but cannot see its way to grant a subsidy. » ". Auroa.— 'The., committee applied 'for additional grant for repairs for shelter shed. — Resolved, That the original sUm of £20 be granted. . I
