(Received April 16, 9.25 a.m.) SYDNEY, April 16. The Colonial Sugar Company has raised the price 'another ten shillings. The price of bran is advanced to £7 10s. The city is suffering from a milk famine. South Coast suppliers are not forwarding owing to the city companies ignoring the local suppliers' association after they agreed 1 to advance thfe price from 6d to Bd. There has been a renewal of the old strike at McKenzie's ' timber yards. The casual hands allege that casual work is being done by constant nonunionists. Sir J. Mills, while in Melbourne, interviewed the Federal Government with reference to the extension or renewal of the Canadian mail contract. No finality has yet been reached. The Union Company is willing to provide a much improved service for an increased subsidy with a reasonable term of contract. ADELAIDE, April 16. j The Government has been advised that the Northern Territory Surrender Bill has receivd royal assent. MELBOURNE, April 16. The Government has received six tenders for the Tasmanian cable. It is possible, however, that the negotiations of the Eastern Extension Company will be resumed. The question of wireless telegraphy will also be considered.
