UNITED FRIENDLY SOCIETIES' ASSOCIATION;
(From Our Eltham Correspondent.) The annual meeting of the Taranaki United Friendly Societies T Association was held at Stratford on Tuesday night, the President ' (Mr Amoore, of Eltham) occupying the chair. The other delegates present were: Messrs Taylor, Hamerton (Inglewood Druids), O'Hagan (New Plymouth Hibernian), Simmons (Toko Oddfellows), Hewer and Kivell (Stratford Foresters), Snowden (Manaia Oddfellows), Hobbs (Moturoa Druids), Bennett, Fawcett (Inglewood Foresters), Whitham (Stratford Rechabites), Hancock, Mountford (Midhurst Oddfellows), Melville, Betts (Kaponga), Hopson (Inglewood Rechabites), and Hardy (Eltham Oddfellows). The balance-sheet showed that at the commencement of the year the liabilities exceeded the assets by £250, at the end of the financial year (March 31) just closed the liabilities exceeded the assets by £100. Practically £150 had been wiped off. • £hg following officers were elected: President, Mr Hamerton (Ingtewo°d) ; Vice-President, Mr Simmons" (Toko); Secretary and Treasurer, Mr 'Arooore (Eltham); executive, Messrs Hobbs (New Plymouth), Betts (Kaponga); Fawcett (Inglewood), Hancock (Midhurßt). A resolution was passed concerning the Hawera Oddfellows and Druids that unless the dues of those lodges were paid by April 30 the Association, decline to recognise liability on hospital accounts owing by members of those lodges. Votes of thanks were accorded the Stratford' Foresters for use of room during the year, and to the retiring officers' and executive.
