OBITUARY.

DUNEDIN, December 5.

Air J. Hall, a well-known civil engineer, died this morning from the after effects ot influenza. Deceased cam© to New Zealand in 1864, and in 1876 he was appointed Government district surveyor in Southland, holding that appointment for two years. He was also contract surveyor in Christchurch for three years. In 1885 he went to Melbourne, and returned to New Zealand in 1894, and occupied the position of resident engineer in connection, with Hawera aoid Masterton waterworks. He also acted professionally for the Dunedin City Council and Roslyn> and Mornington Borough Councils.
