A DISTRESSiNG ACCIDENT
The eight-year-old son (Hector) of Mr J. Morrison, a highly respected settler of Waihi, met with a serious accident about 5 o'clock on Friday afternoon at the farm. The little fellow was near the intermediate shaft which drives the vacuum powef^for the milking machine, and by some means ( became entangled in the shaft and was 'carried round by the belting. An elder r brother noticing that the power was slackening immediately went to seek the cause, and saw his brother in the belting. He immediately stopped the izftachinery, but the unfortunate boy, fin being extricated, was unconscious. The little sufferer was taken to his home and medical assistance was at once, summoned. Upon examination it was found that the boy's left arm was broken at the shoulder joint and his right leg was fractured in two plabes : — Just above the ankle and near the calf. He was removecL to a private hospital \n Hawera this morning, and his condition is considered serious.
