A largely-attended meeting .of the Hawke's Bay branch of the Employers' Association was iheld to-day, when the following resolutions were adopted : — (1) That this lassociatioaii approve of -the method of appointing industrial counjciiß, ■provided satisfactory arrangements can bo ' made by tihe appointment of suitable and permanent presad©n<ts of unquestionable ability, .and that two presidents should be appointed for each island; (2) .that the proposed! method of icollectdng workmen's fines by the employers be strongly objected ito by this association; (3) that this lassociar ition approves of the proposal that contributions to unions and associations by other than members should be made compulsory; (4) that applications for (permits to work for less than the minimum wage should be made to ,the Inspector of Awards; (5) tihat this association disapproves of the inclusion of gas works amd electrical energy works under the Factories Act; (6) that this association, is. of opinion that the halfnoliday now appointed ior shops and •factories should be made applicable to all places except the four chief centres — Aiicklamd, Wellington, Christchouroh, and Dunedin.
