ATTEMPTED SUICIDE.
A young man named Richard Eehfuss, employed ai Mr Richardv Dwyer'a farm at Ohangai, left on the morning of the 4th insfc. at 6.30 to get his cow® in, and onThursday afternoon informied <his employer ihat he .had attempted to drown himself in a creek, and aha to cut Ins throat with a razor. The police were informed, and the man was brought into town .on Thursday night, aJid appeared in the Magistrate's Court this morning before Mr O'Donnell, J.P., on the charge of attempted' suicide. Sergeant Bernaxd said the man was in a bad istate of health, and asked for a remaaid for one week to New Plymouth, where the accused could undergo curative treatment. The accused had' a superficial cut, an inch in length, under his chin. The Bench granted the request, pointing out to Rehfussv tihat this course was in his best interests. j ; Refofuss, who 'had' been .reading the tarring and feathering case, told the police that lie thought he was also going to be tarred and feathered.
