TIMARU, September 4. At the Arbitration Court to-day, the cases against the Smothfield and Paveora slanghtermeni for striking in February laist were dealt with. Twenty-two of tne Smithfield 1 men oufc of 42 cited were fined £5 eaioh. The rest had not been served or were not actually concerned in tihe strike. Most of the 41 Pareora butchers were stated to have left for Australia before tihe proceediings were instituted; c iew were excused as not concerned in the strike, amd of the rest only six had been served with tbe summons by legistered letter, andi tiEeae -tfeire fined £5 each. The fines ware made payable to the Inspector of Factories.
