The Druids' assembly iheld in the Foresters' Hall on Wednesday was a pronounced' success from every point of view, tihere being something like 75 couples piresent. Excellent music* (piano) , was supplied' by Mir B. Gatfield, whilst the duties of M.'s.C. weTe ably carried j out by Messrs Murtagh and Harding. The slipper was supplied by Mr J. P. Keen, The final' assembly of the present 1 season will Be held in a month's time. Messns Gillies and Nalder's spring hoxee faiT commenced in Hawera this morning, there being a fair aittendance of buyers. In all there one about 700 entries catalogued, comprising broken and unbrokeai draughts and specials on accounifc of different clients. The majority of hoonses offered to-day were tHibroken draughts, although there were a few broken-in animals submitted to auction. Bidding Wfls not particularly brisk in the moming, but improved as. the sale advanced. The fair is to,be conitimned on Friday and Saturday.
