QUARTERLY MEETING. The quarterly meeting of the BaweTa ! Licensing Committee was held in HaI weia to-day. These weTe present : Messrs 'A. Turnbull, S.M. (chairman.), Barracilough, Joseph .Wilson, and Davidson. POLICE REPORT. I The police reported favorably upon- the ( hotels in the district. Nothing, however, I had been done in cregard to the drainage I at theNCommerciail Hotel, Manaia. The Chairman' said he .had visitedi the place, and- as far as he coui'd 1 see, on acI count of the wieather and other cincum1 stances, it would be impossible to do anything at present. He had seen an officer of the Health Department, who 1 promised to go out and discuss the matter witih the contiractor. 1 APPLICATION FOR TRANSFER. 1 The application of Michael Ryan (Mr ! McCarthy) for a transfer of Royal Hotel, Hawera, to Edwin S. Rainbow, was granted. APPLICATIONS FOR RENEWALS. The application of Michael BoOger (Mr Welsh), adjourned from last sitting, for a renewal of his license in respect to the Manaia Hotel was approved 1 . Fredk. J. Norlheott, Kaponga, applied for a nenewal (adjourned from- last meet- , ing) of Shis license "respecting the Commercial Hotel. He stated the building would be. finished about September 23. — The application was adjourned (tiJl September 30. THE OTAKEHO HOTEL. In Teply, to a question the police stated there was no application in for fhe rebuilding of the Otakeho Hotel, oneoently destroyed' by fire. There was, however, a temporary building of two 7 rooms on the old site. Mar Welsh said it was proposed to build, and the question as to plans, etc., would be definitely settled' as soon ns the insurance money had been paid over. This concluded the business, and the meeting rose.
