Reid had .been, paying attention to the girl, who discouraged him, as she was engaged to another man. The two ■sat talking in tbje kitchen, and after all the others- in the liouse hod retired shots ■w«Te heard, and the -girl was found lying in a pool of blood with a bullet wound in the head. Reid was discovered' down a •well with a bullet wound in the palate. (Both are 1 itf a^ critical condition.
