Sa'es were held during the week at Okaia.\va on Monday and Hawera on Thursday and a clearing sale on behalf of Miss White, Whakamara, on Tuesday. A.t Okaiawa we had a good yarding and a brisk sale, all classes of cattlo showing a sharp improvement on recent rates. There was a good attendanoei at Miss White's sale, which resulted in an excellent clearance. The herd of 50 oows averaged t £G. At Hawera we had a very | heavy yarding, cattle especially coming forward considerably in excess of adwr- j tised* numbers, every pen being sold. The ' improved demand for cattle experienoed at Okaiawa was maintained, there bedng j good cempetition right through the sale. Sheep sold well. Quotations: — Okniawa : Fat cows £5 5s to £6, forwfird cows £4 to £4 18s, good stores £3 to £A 7s, others ?0s to 50s, dairy cows £5 to j £5 32s 6d, 2-y«ar steers £3 Is. yearling \ steers £1 15&, empty and backward heifei^s I £2 to £3, store pigs lls to 15s. M<ss White's sale: Best cows £5, £5 10s, £6, £7, £8, to £9 10s, backward ■ and faulty cows £2 to £4 10s, heifers £6 to £7 ss, mixed weaners 17s, aged horses £4 to £8. Hawera: Best lambs 16s Id, others 13s 2d to 14s 2d, fcrwanrd wethers 16s Qd to 18s 9d, empty ewes 12« 4d, 3-year to 3£year steers £4 12s to £5 3s, 2-year do. £3 3s to £3 j2e, yearling do. 20s to 355, f.tt oows £6 to £6 7s 6d, store cows £2 10s to £4, heaters in calf £3 10s to £4 9s, empty heifers £2 to £3, wcaners 10s to 28s, bulls 30s to £3 ss, light porkeirs 17s to 295, small stores 10s 6d.
