The Grand National 1 Hurdles proved an easy win for Shrapnel, who led practically the whole way, and established a new record for the race, the previous best being Reeosrd Reign's 3.46 3-5. Hunt Club Cup— Sir James 1, Wahiae 2, Al,bury 3. Also started: Craigmoie, Rosemorn, Deerslayer, Post Haste, Puximu, and Stormy Petrel. Grand National Hurdles, of 1000 soys; about two miles^ — Shrapnel (10.8) 1, Paritutu (11.4) 2, Ability (10.0) 3. Alsc started : Lady Huae, Greusot, Landlock, Ben Jonson, Meariwai, Gold Dust, Stronghold, Cavalry, Lull, Stayboy, Leeside, Sen Sim } Idasa, Levant, Te ULra, and Southern Cross.
