She reports, that at 3 o'clrck on Wednesday morning, when off Port Stephen-, she collided with and sank the barque Ingeboigj from Wellington to Newcastle, in ballast. Tho barque sank in two minutes. Boats lowered by the Arawatta picked up the Ingeboig's crew in th© water., and five <rthers c3iml>ed ov«t the Arawatta s bows. The Arawatta remained in the locality till after daylight, but no further sign of life was seen, and &he rtiumed her voyage. THE SURVIVORS. The saved are •— Karl Albertson, fh-st mate. John Sorensen, second mate. C. A. Lewfe, A B. (native of Westport). shipped at Wellington. Adolph Benjarr.csop, A.B. Franz Alder, steward. Ernest Krebike. A.B. Hans Lusader. A.B. Ale-x. Krentzlit*, A.B. THE MISSING. The missing are :—: — Captain Schmidt. George Harrison, aged 18, A.B. (shipped at Wellington).' George Teder, sailmaker. Axel Gottfriedyen, aged 16. Kar>u,t .Tohansen, A.B. Karl FiQander, A.B. EmM Palmer, A.B. The captain lost his life trying to save the youth GotfcfnVdscn. The Arawatta was doing 12 knots at the time and the barque about four knots. The sailors state the barque was tshow ing all her lights. - The ATawatta's bows were ocnsiderably damaged. Krentzlin, Lawis and Scurrensen jumped overboard at the moment of the collision, and were rescued by the boats. There was no panic on th© Airawatta. though, .theire was great commotion for several minutes. The vessels remained interlocked for ?. few seconds, but as soon as the Arawatta backed out the barque, went down. Those drowned were oti watch, below, and hsd not time to save themselves. Captain Schmidt ccnld have climbed aboard the Arawatta, but ran below to arouse tlhe youth Gottfriedsen, who was asleep. Th© captain had aJmost passed the youth over to the outstretched hands of those on the- Arawatta wlen the vessels suddenly separated. Neither the cap! am nor the boy was seen again.
