SIBERIAN BUTTER. (To the Editor.l Sir, — In your leader tmdier the above heading which, appears in to-day's issue of the Stab, you quote from tun, article taken from the London, Daily Telegraph illustrating how the Russo-Japanese war has affected' /tfhfe Siberian butter trade. According to the Telegraph the war not merely temporarily but permanently interfered with *the growing export of Siberian butter to the London market. Now, Six, -tiliis is singularly inconsistent with facts. The Siberian export of butter to -the United, Kingdom has contdiraously expanded ever since tibe war ita. a remarkable manner. For tibier mofttfo of May, 1907, it stood second (to Denmark) in order of quantity of the imports into the Uinited Kingdom, the quantity Being 73,129 cwte, as against 47,727 cwte in May, 1906. New Zealand quantity was 24,278 cwts. Speaking from memory, the Siberian exports to the United Kingdom have increased year by yeax in a somewhat similar ratio to the above figures. — I am, etc., J.
