Cattte — At Stony River on Friday, Ist inst., the yards were very full and there was a good attendantae. Weaners made lls to 18s, 18. to 18 months steers 30s to 335, 2 to 2^-year steers £2 16s, store oows 33s to 45s 6d, fat and forward do. £3 10s to £4 4s, springing heifers £3 15s, bulls £1 19s od to £3, weaner pigs 5s 6d to 10s. N At Waiwakaiho on Tuesday owing to the sheep fair there was a srealler yarding than usual. Weaners made lls to 19s, 15s to 18 months heifers 25s to 265, 18 months steers £2 10s, store cows 30s to 455, forward do. £2 13s to £3, fat do. £4 ss.
Sheep — At my supplementary fair held after the cattle sale upwards of 8000 sheep were yarded, the bulk of them being from the South Island, the majority of which were young sheep of a very useful class. Considering the shortness of feed prior to shipment, and also the knocking about which is 'use-parable from shipment and bare accommodation paddocks, these were looking remarkably we]!. There was a large attendance, with a good sprinkling of buyers ; bidding was rather quiet at tho start, but improved as the saJe progressed, and the majority of lines were quitted either at <he hammer or privately. Prices, howeve.*, -were on the whole in favor of buyers Shorn lambs made 9s lOd, woolly do. 9s lOd to 10s, 2-tooth ewes 16s to 16s Id, 4 and 6-tooth do. 14s, f.m. do. 6s 4d to 9s Id, 2-tooth wethers 13s 9d, 2 and 4-tooth do. 12s 8d to 17s, English Leicester rams 3 to 3 guineas, Border Leicester do. 3£ to 4 guineas, Shropshire do. 1£ to 2 guineas.
