(From Our Own Correspondent.) The monthly meeting of the Town Board was heJd en Thursday evening. A committee reported that Layard street contract, also tihe bathing shed, have been «itisfactorily finished. The Hon. Mr McNab wrote" tJhat he wovdd endeavor to address a. meeting here on the Land Bill.
The- lamplighter reported that several lair.ps had been broken by stone-throwers. The Chairman undertook to have new •opes fixed to the fireball. The foreman iepoit*d fha£ two gravelling contracts had been finished/ and another is in progress. Re electric lighting, thie clerk is to write Waitaia Town Board for information, ailso to fccott Bros. Mr J. R. Stewart is to be asked to furnish an approximate estimate of bringing in a water supply in a 12in drain fiom the reserve on Wadana- river to a point near the old blockhouse." It was decided to invite tenders for forming a 6ft footpath from Domain -to" Cemetery road. A committee was appointed to inspect a sitia with a view to having a new co/iclete culvert built in Allison street. Resolved to ask for tenders for about 10 chains boulder stone metal on Allison street. Accounts amounting to £40 Vere i passed.
A peliriinary meeting of thosj interested in re-foimmg the Mounted 1 Corps wa* held last evtening, when about 20 men gave in their names. The meeting adjourned for two weeks. It was said that the old corps has £50 to credit as a start. It is aforost certain that the nr-ov-ement will be suooeasful . -
