WELLINGTON, March 4.

When tihree Chomese appeared at the Police Court to-day charged with having sold pak-a-poo lottery tickets, the first one asked to plead maintained a stolid sHence % It was found that the only man who could speak Chinese and! English had been retadned as interpreter to counsel for the defence.

The S.M. remarked that there was evidently a conspiracy of silence, and adjourned the cases until <fche 22nd inst. to enable the police to secure an interpreter.
