HAWERA COUNTY COUNCIL
THE NEW MEMBERS. ; The election in the Hawera and Ararata ladings' took place on Friday, and resulted in the return of Messrs W. Goodland and J. B. Murdoch (Hawem,), C. C. .Tarrant and T. A. Winks (Ararata). The other seate were uncontested. The complete Council is as follows: — Waimate. — Mjessrs A. J. Hastie and W. Borne. liaupokonui.-— Mr T. A. Bridge. Mokoia. — Mr W Duirs. Hawera. — Messrs Goodljand and Murdoch Ararata. — Messrs Tarrant and Winks. THE POLLING. The votes polled by the various candi- 1 dates were as follows: — \ Hawera Riding. — W. Goodland 162, J. B. Murdoch 121, J. Davidson 70. Meremere (one member). — Nominations I close 23rd inst.
A special attraction at Mr Newton King's Awakino sheep and cattle fair to be held on Wednesday next are tihe lines on account of Messrs M. Mackay and J. F. LJevfeir, both of whom have siold thieir farms, and as everything is for absolute sale buyers should liave a good lime.
