WARM TIME AT HOKITIKA. IPUBB ASSOCIATION.] HOKITIKA, September 7. A very heated scene occurred at tihe Borough Council meeting this evening. The Mayor (Mr Michel) accused Councillor Clarke of having made slanderous statements against him and other councillors, which ho forcibly resented. ' He also charged Councillor Clarke with having taken money illegally from another local body, and being the tool of a snail political clique. The Mayor moved a resolution strongly condemning the action of Councillor Clarke, who attempted to iei ply, but the Mayor declared the meeting 1 closed. Earlier in the evening the Mayor accused ex-Mayor Mandl -with having ,il-, legally taken away from the Town Clerk's office- a number of enrolment forms, cansing forty-eight ratepayers to be disfranchised at the Tecent borough, by-election.
