The managing agents of the Oceanic Company state it is impossible to say when the 'Frisco service will be resumed, though thoy hope it will be within two months. The wharves at 'Frisco are in a state of chaos 1 , and vessels are unable to load, even if cargo were offering.
PRESIDENT'S REPLY TO NEW ZEA-
LAND'S OFFER.
OUTSIDE HELP DECLINED.
THE MONEY TO BE SENT TO NEW
ZEALAND AGENT.
WELLINGTON, May 2. Mr Seddon has received the following communication! through the Secretary of State for the Colonies: — "Referring to your telegram respecting the San Francisco disaster, the following hae been received from His Majesty's Ambassador at Washington: 'The President desires me to express to the Government and people of New Zealand his deep appreciation of their sympathy. -He feels sure that they will understand the people of the United tSatee aTe none the less grateful because it has been; decided) that it will be unnecessary to accept help from outside.'"
Under these circumstances the New Zealand Government has decided' to send .to the New Zealand agent at San Francisco the sum of 5000 dollars (£1250) for expenditure in the relief of suffering, and to ensure comforts for New Zealandere in San Francisco who may have suffered by tne disaster.
