(From Our Own Correspondent.) T~# Manama Golf Club held their opera ing day on Saturday, and in spite of tbM bad weather there was a fair muster of the, members, also.a few visitors' from outside clubs. An enjoyable time was epenti after a heavy shower. had .passed over.. Afternoon tea was' 'supplied by Mis Coxrigan. There is every reason to believe* the Club .will have a -.successful year aa there is a large membership, and all are; enthusiastic.

The Waimate Football Club held them second' practice, and about 40 members 'were, present and got in same very useful 1 before being interfered with by lain. . Most o,f the players Tequire a loti of training to get them fit, but* there waa .some fair form shown. It was decided to send a team to Hawera <next Saturday to play a friendly game and the following players were selected : Meuli, Franklin, Buirke, Ryan, Vine, Christie, Bourke, PatU terson, Guy, Leydon, Tait, Riley, Hughee,' McKay, and Mackay. It was also decided to enter a B junior team, to be composed of .Kaponga playere. Mr J. Ryan, the successful tenderer for the -new hall, has got some timber on the ground so we should soon see a, start made with the building.
