The Okaiawa Football Club sent (or rather picked) a team' to take part in a football tournament at Patea" last week, but unfortunately two of those selected , failed to turn up. However, the teia&iffi- | der of the team made the jouunejt ,to . Patea, where a couple of substitutes were : obtained. In spite of being so handicapped, the team was only defeated by : Patea' s best by the narrow margin of three I points. The continuous wet' weather coming on top of the long spell of dry weather has had the effect of making the roads any- ' thing but pleasant to foavel over: HoWever, we can always consols oureefaes with' ~ the fact- that, no . matter how bad our roads may be, those in the neighboring road district are a hundred per cent, worse..
