RIO DE JANIERO, January 23
The Brazilian ironclad Aquidaband's powder magazine blew up at midnight on Sunday at Jacace- Pagna, while escorting a Ministerial party aboard the cruiser B»rroso, on a tour of inspection of the sites for a naval yard. The Aquidaband sank in three; minutes. It is reported that 30*0 perished, only one officer being saved.
The drowned included four Rear-Ad-mirals, a number of naval officers, and Government officials, who were guests aboard the Aquidaband.
