POULTRY NOTES.

The fact that the North Island Poultry declined to accede to the request of the Hawera Society to alter the dates of the local show one week earlier will not be pleasing to local breednrs. This society sent in a special request months ago to follow Palmerston 6ho\v but the Tequest was aot granted when show dates were ravised and the Hawera show was placed a month later than was asked and a fortnight later than Wanganui show. Local opinion favors the shows on this coast following one another at a week's interval, but under the dates as they now stand thera wiJl be a fortnight's interval between Wanganui and Hawera. New Plymoutn. show is fixed to take place a week before * Wanganui. Another matteT that has been exorcising the -minds of members of the local society is the representation at the meetings of the North Island Association. Hawcxa Society re-appointed last year's delegate (who has up till recently given (satisfaction) bufc from reports ia the Palmerston papers another gentleman has been representing Haweara and as this gentleman has not received any instructions (as far as local members are aware) the Hawera Society is far from satisfied at the representation they have been accorded at the meetings of the North Island Association. This matter will probably be discussed at a meeting of the local society to be held shortly. Mr' W. Fraser (Hawera) will, judge fancy pigeons at Palmeirston North winter show. Messrs. F. Docre and A. Palmer will allot the tickets at the Wanganui show. NORTH ISLAND POULTRY ASSOCIA-

A special meeting of ,the North Island Poultry Association was held at Paknerston North last week. The Hawera Society was represented by Mr E. Edwards. R. Edwards.

The Hawera Poutry Society, wrote, taking strong exception to the evident injustice in regard' to their show dates. It was desired- that July 12th and 13th should be allotted them, one week after Wanganui. It was admitted these dates would clash "with Feeding, but it was thought neither show would hurt the other. Exception was also taken to the championships allotted them, which were described as out of date. Mr West (Feilding) objected to any alteration in dates and also to the principle of considering the matter again. Mr R. Edwards (Hawera) said he had received a communication last year from his society and no mention was made of any objection to dates or any suggested. The President 6aid the whole trouble about datea arose through New Plymouth being allowed to change its_ dates, and he expressed the opinion that 'the alteration alluded to should not- have been granted. Wellington was sore ovct the matter; it interfered with them, and he could not blame them for being sore. Had tba New Plymouth dates not been altered the) dates along the coast would have worked ia sequence, .-rThe request was refused. The appointment of Mr Dacre to judge the Hawera 1906 6tiow was approved.

It was decided on the motion of the President that it be a recommendation to all affiiliated societies and clubs to adopt the colors for officers' badges, ribbon and prize tickets as used by the Royal Agricultural Society, England, and which have been adopted by all the leading and most other societies in the colonies.

The President (Mr J. Jarvis) also moved that during a show the whole of the birda are in the custody of the committee, and may mot be touched or handled either by the owner or by aaiy unauthorised person ; exhibitors or their servants not to be allowed, to pen or unpen their birds without having first obtained the authority of the officer-in-charge. Exception was taken by Messrs Green and Walker to the penning and unpennuig proposals, they stating they would not permit any person to handle their fancy birds. Mr G. Frost • second ?d the motion,, which was carried.
