SUICIDES.

WELLINGTON, December 3.

J. Holmes,, a clerk in the Treasury Department, committed suicide this morning by hanging himself. Deceased had been in ill-health. "An inquest is being held this afternoon. WELLIXGTOX. December 4.

A man named Edward Pearcey. aged 68 years, committed suicide at his residence 1 in Barber street this morning by cutting [ his throat. Deceased, who was a married -man with a grown-up family, had been rather eccentric for some time past. In the cass of the suicide of John Holmes, the jury returned a verdict of suicide while in a state of mental depression and bad health."
