"THE J.P."
There is every indication that the performance of the" Strand Comedy Company will be fraught with exceptionally brilliant results on Tuesday evening, when it will appear for the first time in Hawera in "The J.P." This successful farce-comedy will be presented under arrangement with Mr J. C. Williamson, and i will introduce for the first time in the colony two of the most prominent artists of the English stage to-day— Mr J. J. Dallas and Miss Florence Lloyd. Mr Dallas made his first profesional appearance in London in 1878 in. the op&ra "l?atinitiza," and ait&rwards was engaged for the Gaiety, appearing with that famous Gaiety quartette which was then made up of Edward Terry, Kate Vaughan, Nellie Farren and E. W. Royoe. Mr Dallas is said to be an interesting and vivacious personality, and lias won unstinted encomiums for his splendid performance of Caesar Montague in "The J.P." Miss Florence Lloyd, whose popularity in Australia some years ago many theatre-goers will recall, appeared in the original production of the "J.P." As a boy impersonator Miss Lloyd is said to be unrivalled. Miss Lloyd is a well-known English Gaiety favorite, whose fame has penetrated to every corner of the globe. Amongst the remaining principals of the company is notioea Miss Ma\td_ Chetwynd, whose winsome and captivaung performances with Mr J. C. Williamson's Opera Company some time back won her a large following of friends.
