A CONTRADICTION.
(To the Editor.)
Sir, — I give James Crocker's contradiction a flat and unqualified denial. His statement is a tissue of misrepresentations. It is not one word against another, for the letter published by you from Mr Crabbe confirms my statement in toto. At the time he came no expenses had been incurred. I enclose a declaration made by me before a Justice of the Peace, and which I would ask you to kindly publish. Then lam prepared to leave the verdict in the hands of the electors. — I am, etc., B. C. ROBBINS. I hereby solemnly declare that on a, certain day I was behind the counter in, my shop when one James Crocker came in* and said, "I want to speak to you in private." We retired to the office, when he, after having shut the door, made use of the following or similar words: — "Don't get angry at what I am going to say, but I have been sent to see if you will stand down this election. We know
you have incurred some expenses, and we want to know what you are prepared to take to stand down."
B. C. ROBBINS. Declared before me this fourth day December, 1905.
