NEW ZEALAND FOOTBALLERS IN ENGLAND.
In the triumphal progress of the New Zealand football team no victory Has been more significant than that of Saturday. Too much might easily have been made of the successes in club matches, for the long series of big scores proved the superiority of the colonials and it was quite open to apologists to point out that even the best of clubs can hardly expect to reach the standard of a specially-chosen, and specially- trained team, with all the advantage of thorough organisation. But successive victories over the representative ■teams of Scotland, Ireland and England are performances of a very different character, and can only be regarded as proof that the game is now played better in New Zealand than in the countries of its origin. New Zealanders have every reason to be proud of the doings of their team against the international combinations, and hopes are naturally confident that the tour will run its course without a reverse. It is said in some quarters that Wales is likely to 6poil the record, but as the New Zealanders' margin has been so great in the games against Scotland, Ireland and England colonist supporters may look forward to tRe Welsh matches with considerable confidence.
