AN ARCHDUKE WHO VANISHED.

The mystery surrounding the disappearance of the Archduke Johamn Nepomuch Salvator, of Austria, has not yet been cleared up. The Archduke was born in1852, and attained to a high position in the Austrian Aimay. For various reasons he retired from active service in 1887, and a couple of years later he resigned his rights and titles generally, assuming the plain name of John Qrth. He became the captain of a sailing vessel. In 1896 he set out on a voyage from Buenos Ayres to Valparaiso, but since that tine he has not been heard of. Possibly*—perhaps probably—he perished in the violent gales of that period, but there are people who believe that he is still living incognito, and that he may appear to take public part in the making of history yet. *
