MELBOURNE, November 4.

The weather was ehowery, with a strong west wind. There was a laTge crowd present, including a number of visitors from the various States. Results :

Maiden Plate. — Elysium 1, Paraloch 2, Akyke 3. Betting: 3to 1 Elysium. Won by a nose.

Maribyrnong Plate. — Oriellet 1, Ebullition 2, Port Arthur 3. Ten others ran. Betting : 2 to 1 against Oriellet.

Hotham Handicap. — Demas 1, Panama 2, Aurate 3. Seven others ran. Betting : 5 to 2 Aurate, 3 to 1 Demas.

Derby. — Lady Wallace 1, Grama 2, In fanta 3. All started but Circuit, Betting: 5 to 4 against Lady Wallace. The most prominent among the field in the early stage of the Tace were §cotiand, Infanta, Piua, and Charles Stftstxt, but at the abattoirs Lady Wallace began to move up, and she followed Infanta into the straight, where a fierce duet storm was encountered. Racing out of this, Lady Wallace and Grama were seen in the van, but in the final struggle the favorite more than held her own, and won, by half a length. Time, 2.40. Melbourne Slakes. — Tartan 1, Marvel Loch 2, Gladsome 3. Six others Tan, includfing Majiiapoto, who started at 6 to 4, Gladsome 5 to" 2 ; Marvel Loch 12 to 1. Tartan, Gladsome, and fa'aT?©! Loch swept into the straight together, and the latter appeared to be having the best of the ■struggle, when Tartan came on with a rush, and won by two lengths. Time 2.9£.

Coburg Stakes.— Debenture 1, Newmarket 2, Mani Stakes 3. Fourteen others started. Betting : 5 to' 2 Circuit, 10 to 1 Debenture. Won by a length. Time, 1.24£.

Encourage Stakes. — True Scot 1, Scramble 2, Bacrami 3. Nine others ran. Betting: 7 to 1 Jack Smith, 2 to 1 Scot Free. Won by a length. Time I.ll£.
