MR McGUIRE AT OKAIAWA.

(From Our Own Correspondent.)

Mr McGuire's meeting on Saturday evening was much better attended, but still the attendance was not large. Mr T. S. Joll was voted to the chair. Mr MoGuire trenchantly criticised the administration of the present Government, and said if returned to Parliament he would do everything in his power to secure pure administration, and would leave nothing undone for the welfare of the district and of the colony. Mr McGuire received a very patient hearing, and at the close of his address was accorded a vote of thanks and confidence.

Matters political .here are very quiet indeed so far. Very little interest seems to be taken in the forthcoming contest, and excitement or argument are conspicuous by their absence. Possibly we may liven up in a week or two.
