WESTMINSTER GLEE SINGERS.

The Westminster Glee and Concert Party are announced to appear at the Opera House on. Friday evening next. It will be interesting to Australasian readers to know that this company's last tour Tound the world established a world's record in respect to concert giving, the party travelled 62,000 miles in 547 days, visited 219 towns, gave 390 performances, and made 18 sea journeys, their repertoire consisting of 90 pieces, all of which were performed from memory. The unusual combination of boys' and men's voices selected from the most famous exponents of part-singing in England, has enabled them to present a series of programmes interesting and enjoyable alike to the cultured musician and the enthusiastic amateur. One of the most acceptible forms of vocal music is undoubtedly unaccompanied part-singing, and the revival of these ancient part-songs, glees and madrigals, which are classics in English music, interpreted as they will be by such a talented combination, offers unique attraction. The party also illustrate the humorous "Catch" so popular in olden times, a form of composition in which the words are "caught" up from one singer to another in such a way that the most serious lines are transformed into something humorous.
