A message was sent to the Council, and managers were appointed for a conference accordingly. In committee on the Industrial, Conciliation and Arbitration Bill, clause 14, giving enforcement to the awards of Magistrates, was thrown out by 17 to 40. :.A new clause was added, providing penalties against strikes and lockouts, £100 in, the case of a union, association, or employer, and £10 for a worker. A proposed new clause, to apply the principle of preference to xiniondsts, was rejected" by 31 to 17. The- bill was then reported ,md put through- its final stages. In committee, the Workers' Compensation for - Accidents Bill parsed with n. slight amendment.
