LICENSING COMMITTEE.

QUARTERLY MEETING

The quarterly meeting of the Hawera Licensing Committee wae held at t.he courthouse on Friday at noon ; present — Mr A. Tumbull, S.M. (Chairman), Messrs J. E. Wilson, J. R. Stewart, J. Davidson. W. Rowe, and H. G. Pitcher.

MANAIA HOTELS

A report from Dr V&lintine on the condition of the hotels at Manaia was read, and it was decided to adjourn consideration of it for a month.

TRANSFER GRANTED

James Thomas Scott applied for a transfer of license on the Okaiawa Hotel to Herbert Clarke Rowland.

The transfer was granted, reports being favorable.

FAMILY TROUBLES

As it wae understood that an application would be made for a transfer of the license of the Opunake Hotel, Opunake, from Timothy O'Connor to James Miller, Constable Hickman, of Opunake, attended and reported that domestic troubles still existed.

The President remarked that as Mr O'Connor would shortly be going out of the hotel it would be better to take no notice of the present unsatisfactory condition of things. This was all the business.
