DAIRY PRODUCE EXCHANGE
There was a good attendance at the meeting of tlje Dairy Produce Exchange-so-day. Among other resolucicns passed was one expressing the feeling of the meeting that ocean freights on butter are too high, and that the executive of the National Dairy Association was precipitate in its action in fixing the new contract lately announced.
The Feilding Star has Mr H. E. Morsliead's authority for contradict ing-the telegraphed report that Mr E. T. Morshead has succeeded to a title.
It wiJ] be noticed that there is to he a meeting in the Oddfellows' Hall on Friday -evening of no-license workers and all interested in the movement. Those who have been working will report and further organising will be discussed. In order to instruct voters a mock ballot will tie carried out. Loan proposals involving a snm of JBl2jooo were submitted to the New Plymouth ratepayers on Wednesday. Of this sum £7000 was for completion "of the electric lighting Bchenie and additional works to the, water service, which proposal was carried by 206 votes against- 103. A propoeal for a £5000 loan for certain street works was rejected. There were 1250 -voters on the roll, but fewer than 320 voted.
