IN WAR TIME.

COULD BRITAIN'S FOOD bITPLY BE

LIT OFF?

A REASSURING REPORT.

[PP.KSS ASSOCIATION.]

(Received August 3, 8.24 a.m.) LONDON, August 2. The report of the Royal Commission on the food supply in war time is reassuring. The impossibility of a wholesale blockade of the coast renders the supply comparatively safe under almost every conceivable state of things, and the laws of supply and demand would ensure ample importation. Nevertheless, the Commission would not discourage an experiment in the direction of the storage of grain for times of emergency. A minority report is more alarmist, and urges immediate and practical precautions.
