MARSHALL ISLANDS TROUBLE.
A CONCILIATORY GERMAN NOTE.

SYDNEY, August 1.
The Consul-General of Germany has received official advices that the changes desired by Australia in the Marshall Islands will be given effect to on October 1.
Mr Deakin, Federal Premier, read a cable in the Federal House" from Hon. A. Lyticlton, Secretary of State for the Colonies, announcing receipt by the British Government of a conciliatory German Note, stating that facilities will be granted to Messrs Burns, Philp and Co. to lease land for trading stations at the Marshall and Caroline Islands.
The Government is also revising the fiscal legislation of the Marshalls.
The announcement "was received with fiheeiing.
